There were no surprises at American Heritage’s signing day ceremony, which is somewhat hard to accomplish given the size of the Stallions’ signing class.
Fifteen football players and 10 athletes from other sports had placards spread out among 10 tables in Heritage’s gym in Delray Beach.
At one end of the table sat the Stallions’ big three, each headed to a big-time school. Notre Dame-bound running back Greg Bryant, newly minted Auburn wide receiver Marcus Davis and Florida-signed offensive tackle Roderick Johnson (see pic) mugged for cameras and saluted the parents and students in attendance.

As American Heritage football coach and athletic director Stacy Sizemore announced the players, the lights in the gym went out. “That was not planned,” Sizemore joked.
The others in the football signing class:
- Tight end Tyler Provo (Syracuse)
- Linebacker Evan Harvey (Lehigh)
- Linebacker Jake Giordano and safety Xavier Swinton (Miami of Ohio)
- Tight end Isaac Leon, who will accept a preferred walk-on at Miami. He chose the Canes over similar opportunities at Vanderbilt and Colgate, and a handful of Division II schools.
- Safety Darrion Richardson (Southern Methodist)
- Kicker Greg Joseph (FAU walk-on)
- Linebacker Chad Veccharella and cornerback Colon Wright (St. Joseph’s, Ind.)
- Linebacker Josh Holley (Virginia Beach Institute)
- Offensive lineman Milton Michel (Union)
- Eric Cowart (Northwood University of Michigan)
Also signing: soccer stars Sarah Coy (Colgate) and Braxton Fuster (FAU), tennis standout Rasheeda McAdoo (Georgia Tech), softball aces Corrie Boggess (Indian River) and Madison Hir (Alabama-Birmingham) and their teammates Whitney Farris (FAMU) and Marissa Mangini (George Washington), baseball standouts Peter Castillo (Florida Gulf Coast) and Anthony Delaney (Palm Beach State) and golfer Ashley Burke (USF).
Twenty-five athletes in seven sports. Fairly impressive.
“There are millions of dollars in college scholarships sitting behind me,” Heritage headmaster Bob Stone said.
